Appointed Officer Applications
Now that we have elected our President for the 2009-2010 school year, it's time to select officers for our new appointed positions: Historian, Webmaster, Social Chair, Artistic Coordinator, and Research Director. If you would like to apply for any of these, please answer the questions below and send your responses to ser@bsu.edu. For positions that ask for a sample of your work, please attach a digital copy to your application.
Historian
Responsibilities:
- Updating & Maintaining the SER Archives
- Recording events that we host/attend
- Taking pictures at events
- Tracking Officer profiles, including biographies, interviews, and noteable accomplishments
- Filing all topic research
If you would like to apply for this position, answer the following questions:
- Can you commit to acting as or designating a photographer for all SER events?
- On a scale of 1-10, please rate your ability to track and organize large amounts of information. Explain your rating.
Webmaster
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining SER's presence on the internet
- Aiding the Secretary & Historian in posting minutes, calendars, and archive materials electronically
- Updating the SER Facebook group
If you would like to apply for this position, answer the following questions:
- Describe your experience with web development.
- Are you familiar with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Dreamweaver? Elaborate.
- Can you commit to keeping all SER web sites updated in a timely fashion?
Social Chair
Responsibilities:
- Organizing & Coordinating social events outside of regular meetings
- Coordinating transportation to off-campus events
- Tracking member participation & interest in specific social events
If you would like to apply for this position, answer the following questions:
- Give a few examples of social events you would like to put together.
- Provide a full written plan for a single social event you would like to organize (If appointed, this will be your first event).
- Can you commit to at least one social event per month?
Artistic Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Aiding in the design of all publicity
- Converting analog media into a useable digital format, and vice-versa
- Aiding all artistic endeavors within SER
If you would like to apply for this position, answer the following questions:
- Describe your experience and familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, or any other similar programs.
- Are you able to commit to 6-8 hours per month working on strictly SER art projects?
- Please provide a Tarot Table flyer as a sample of your work.
Research Director
Responsibilities:
- Performing research to aid in group discussion of upcoming topics
- Collecting & Organizing research from other members on upcoming topics
- Providing research gathered to the Secretary and President to be sent to all SER members
If you would like to apply for this position, answer the following questions:
- Give a few examples of sources you would pull discussion research from.
- Are you willing to track down and borrow non-electronic sources from people in the community? Could you commit to returning borrowed materials promptly?
- Provide a full discussion research writeup for a discussion topic SER has used in the past.
